When I was a child in the 70s, cakes were often made from packet mixes.
Honestly, I didn’t mind. When I came home from school, I always dived into our cake and biscuit tins and was happy to eat whatever was in them. Sometimes, however, when time allowed and we had the ingredients in the house, we would make chocolate cake from scratch. And when we did, this was the recipe we used. It’s light and fluffy and spectacularly all homemade.
